Product Description

Product Description
High-Durability Cast Steel Shot S70–S780  2,500+ Ervin Cycles | Shot Blasting & Peening Abrasive | SAE J444
Junda Cast Steel Shot is manufactured from controlled steel raw materials through a carefully managed forming, heat-treatment, screening and quality-control process. Every batch is produced to meet SAE J444 standards, with OES spectrometry and cross-section hardness verification before shipment.
Available in S70–S780 grades (Ø0.2–2.5 mm) with hardness options from approximately HRC 40–68, the product is engineered around a proprietary Tempered Martensite + Bainite composite microstructure — resolving the industry's fundamental trade-off between hardness and durability. The martensite phase delivers high surface hardness for blasting efficiency; the bainite phase provides the toughness to absorb impact and arrest crack propagation.
Ervin cycle life 2,500–2,800 cycles ( industry average ~1,800 cycles (+40%))
Hollow particle rate < 5% (national standard: < 10%)
Cracked particle rate < 10% (national standard: < 15%)
Density ≥ 7.4 g/cm³ for consistent kinetic energy and surface coverage
Rather than simply supplying different shot sizes, we provide a controlled steel shot system — matching media grade, size and hardness to specific workpiece materials and surface-treatment requirements.

Designed Around Industrial Surface-Treatment Challenges
Industrial blasting and shot peening require more than simply high hardness.
Inconsistent particle size, excessive cracks, hollow particles, premature breakdown and improper hardness selection can affect blasting efficiency, surface uniformity and media consumption.
Our steel shot is developed around four key requirements:
Consistent Particle Geometry: Controlled spherical shape provides predictable impact behavior and stable coverage.
Controlled Hardness: Different hardness grades allow users to select suitable impact characteristics for different workpieces and processes.
Structural Reliability: Controlled manufacturing and heat treatment help reduce premature particle breakdown during repeated impact.
Application Matching: Different shot sizes and hardness grades can be selected according to workpiece material, surface condition and treatment objective.

Solid Waste Reduction With 2,500–2,800 Ervin cycles — ~40% above industry average — each ton of steel shot replaces an estimated 5–8 tons of single-use abrasives such as copper slag or coal slag, reducing solid waste generation by over 80% per project and cutting disposal costs significantly.
No Heavy Metal Contamination Clean chemical composition (S & P both <0.05%) with no residual copper or other heavy metals found in slag-based abrasives. Spent media meets environmental disposal standards and can be safely landfilled or recycled, protecting soil and groundwater at job sites.
Lower Lifecycle Carbon Footprint High recyclability means less abrasive manufactured, transported, and disposed of per m² treated. Compared to single-use alternatives, the total energy consumption and carbon emissions per unit of surface prepared are substantially reduced — supporting low-carbon surface treatment across shipbuilding, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
Improved Worker Safety Low hollow particle rate (<5%) and low crack rate (<10%) minimize dust generation during blasting, improving air quality for operators and reducing occupational health risks — compliant with international industrial hygiene standards.
