100-150 mm B3 Forged Steel Grinding Balls for Large SAG Mills and Large-scale mineral processing
Update:May 9th, 2026JUNDA B3 forged steel grinding balls in 100-150 mm diameters are designed for large SAG mills used in demanding mineral processing applications. Manufactured through controlled forging and heat treatment, they provide a balanced combination of impact toughness, hardness and wear resistance for high-impact primary grinding conditions.
Available in diameters of 100, 120, 130, and 150 mm, with hardness specifications controlled according to ball diameter and SAG mill operating conditions.
Why Choose 100-150 mm Grinding Balls for Large SAG Mills?Large SAG mills operate under significantly different impact conditions from conventional ball mills. Large-diameter grinding balls are used to provide sufficient mass and impact energy for coarse feed and primary size reduction.
JUNDA 100-150 mm B3 forged grinding balls are designed around three key performance requirements:
Large SAG mill environments expose grinding media to repeated high-energy impacts. The B3 grade and controlled heat treatment are designed to provide the toughness required for repeated high-energy impacts.
For large-diameter balls, excessively high hardness can compromise toughness if not properly controlled. JUNDA adjusts heat treatment according to ball diameter and required mechanical properties.
Consistent diameter and metallurgical properties help maintain a stable grinding charge in large SAG mills.

| Factor | Why It Matters |
| Mill Diameter | Influences impact energy and required ball size |
| Feed Size | Coarser feed may require larger grinding media |
| Ore Hardness | Affects wear and grinding energy |
| Mill Speed | Influences impact intensity |
| Ball Size Distribution | Determines grinding action and charge behavior |
| Liner Design | Affects ball trajectories and impact conditions |
| Ball Hardness | Influences wear resistance |
| Impact Toughness | Helps control breakage under high-impact conditions |
| Ball Diameter | Typical Selection Consideration | |
| 100 mm | Suitable for SAG mill applications requiring moderate impact energy from large-diameter grinding media. | |
| 130 mm | Suitable for demanding primary grinding conditions | |
| 150 mm | Large-diameter option for coarse feed and high-impact SAG mill environments | |
| The optimum ball size should be determined based on mill diameter, feed size, ore hardness, mill speed, mill filling level, liner design, and the existing ball size distribution. | ||
100-150 mm B3 forged grinding balls can be selected for large SAG mills used in primary copper ore grinding, where coarse feed and high-impact conditions require large-diameter grinding media.
Suitable for large SAG mill applications in gold processing where grinding media are exposed to repeated impact and abrasive wear.
Large-diameter forged grinding balls can be used for primary grinding of iron ore in SAG mill circuits, subject to ore characteristics and mill operating conditions.
B3 grinding balls can also be considered for other large-scale mineral processing applications involving coarse feed and demanding impact conditions.
